Nowadays, it\u2019s not uncommon for businesses to purchase professional images from photography websites (also known as \u2018Stock Image\u2019 websites). You may have heard of a number these\u00a0websites\u00a0such as\u00a0iStock<\/strong> and ShutterStock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Purchasing stock images or hiring a professional photographer for your next project may\u00a0not always be the most cost effective\u00a0option for small businesses. However, you can still achieve the same result and make your\u00a0business\u00a0stand out from the crowd without breaking the bank. \u00a0Thankfully, as is the case with most things on the internet, there are a number of free\u00a0alternatives!<\/p>\n

I\u2019m talking about websites that now offer\u00a0free photos for personal and commercial use.\u00a0Yep, no strings attached, high quality FREE stock image websites are popping all over the place.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s exciting to see such amazing images\u00a0in both\u00a0subject and quality freely available!<\/p>\n

Here is a list of my top 5 free stock photography websites (in no particular order):<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0SPLITSHIRE<\/a><\/h2>\n

\"SplitShire\"<\/p>\n

SplitShire<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0\u00a0a collection of shots from Italy based photographer and graphic designer,\u00a0Daniel Nanescu.<\/p>\n

The collection has a tonne of categories ranging\u00a0from food, fashion, landscape and\u00a0technology \u2013 to name a few.\u00a0Split Shire is updated on a regular basis as well, so it pays to check back each week to see what\u2019s new.<\/p>\n

2. GRATISOGRAPHY<\/a><\/h2>\n

Gratisography<\/a> offers a collection of quirky, abstract and still life photos\u00a0that\u00a0would make the perfect feature image for your upcoming article or brochure design.<\/p>\n

With its continuous scrolling feature, you\u2019ll find it hard to break away from it\u2019s amazing gallery.<\/p>\n

3. UNSPLASH<\/a><\/h2>\n

Running since May 2013,\u00a0Unsplash<\/a> collates free stock images\u00a0from around the web and brings them all together in the one place.<\/p>\n

Users\u00a0can freely submit their photos to the database with the team at\u00a0Unsplash\u00a0making\u00a010 new photos available every 10 days. So make sure to check back regularly.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0PICJUMBO<\/a><\/h2>\n

\"Pic<\/p>\n

Open since November 2013, PicJumbo<\/a> has a an enormous collection of images to choose from.<\/p>\n

With the ability\u00a0to break your search down via category, it would be hard not to\u00a0find something you\u2019re looking for here. My only complaint is that the search bar hiding on the right hand side of the page\u00a0is a bit hard to see, so keep an eye out for it.<\/p>\n

5. PUBLIC DOMAIN ARCHIVE<\/a><\/h2>\n

\"Public<\/p>\n

Public Domain Archive<\/a> is another site collating images from around the web.\u00a0The ever growing collection offers modern and vintage images as well as\u00a0serving up hi-res images of some of the world\u2019s most\u00a0famous photos that are now available in the public domain.<\/p>\n

The site\u00a0is set\u00a0out like a blog, with each new image in its own post.\u00a0Some\u00a0posts\u00a0can contain\u00a0around\u00a050+ images, so you may have to do a little bit of searching, but the rewards are\u00a0very satisfying.<\/p>\n
